Kama’aina Hale is located in the Kailua Kona village district less than a quarter mile from the Pacific Ocean. For over 40 years, this 128 unit complex has provided safe and peaceful affordable housing for local families. Its convenient location in along with its diverse community makes for an ideal place to call home and experience our unique island lifestyle. Restaurants and stores are within walking distance. Sunsets and leisurely walks along Ali’i Drive can be enjoyed daily.

At Kama’aina Hale, we want to give people much more than just a place to live. Our desire is to collaborate closely with our residents to develop programs that address particular needs and interest. Allowing for activities that contribute to the wellbeing of individuals and families, and to forge supportive and fulfilling relationships with their neighbors. Examples of these activities are a community garden, family movie nights on the lawn, after school tutoring, community holiday celebrations, etc.


In 2018 Kama’aina Hale completed a 2.5 million renovation project bringing 68 units back into the local housing market. We are committed to a high standard of maintenance and continuing renovations to keep the property in the best possible condition for our residents.


Kama’aina Hale Apartments (KHA) is a non-profit development and management organization dedicated to providing quality, safe and affordable rental apartments for households earning less than the median income for the State of Hawai’i.
